This course allows students and practitioners who have passed the Postgraduate Diploma in Law, the Legal Practice Course or the Bar Vocational Course to obtain a masters award by writing a dissertation in a specialised area of law. The course is highly flexible, allowing students to study, for the most part, at a time convenient to them. Training in research methods is provided and you will have regular meetings with a dissertation supervisor. You will study in the heart of the Leeds legal community, which is the UK’s second largest and fastest growing legal centre. If you are aspiring to a careerin law, business or other professions, the LLM top-up can help you to gain the relevant skills and knowledge.
For fees and funding information please see our website
Our students are mostly legal professionals from a range of backgrounds including trainee solicitors, solicitors and academics working in further education. Students who complete the top-up LLM often find the experience enjoyable whilst raising their own profile in terms of employability in a competitive legal world. For those wishing to go on to teach in higher education, universities will expect a masters qualification as a minimum.
