MSc Industrial Mathematics (With Placement)

  • DeadlineStudy Details:

    MSc 18 months with placement

Masters Degree Description

This course is specifically aimed at International students, supporting those wishing to gain practical work based experiential learning. Together with studying your chosen course we are offering an additional 6 month placement opportunity, making the course 18 months in length. This allows students with limited experience to put into practice the skills and techniques developed throughout the Master’s degree.

Our Masters course in Industrial Mathematics is designed to meet the requirements of the modern knowledge economy for employees with both the mathematical skills needed for modelling of industrial problems and processes, and the communication and teamwork skills needed to be able to apply these skills as part of a cross-functional or interdisciplinary team.

In addition to acquiring deep knowledge of mathematical tools and techniques needed to model industrial systems, we aim to develop the communication skills needed to understand the requirements of the problem owner and work with them to formulate a description true to the actual need and amenable to mathematical analysis. After the analysis has been carried you’ll also have the skills needed to communicate results in the context of the original problem, e.g. as actionable recommendations.

On completion of this course you will be able to work as mathematicians and mathematical modellers in industry, either working independently or embedded in cross functional teams. This course will also allow you to progress into academic research via a PhD qualification.
