Masters Degree Description

The University of Strathclyde has a rich history of teaching and innovation. This programme builds on the international research strengths of the School of Education in the areas of children and childhood, equity and social justice, pedagogy and curriculum policy and teachers and teacher education.

The Postgraduate Certificate in Education (International) is a one-year part-time teacher education course which will prepare you to teach in international settings. The course aims to develop your knowledge and skills of reflecting on your own professional experience by linking theory to practice. You can choose a specialised area: Early Years, Primary Education, Secondary Education (subject-specific), according to your interests and experience.

Entry Requirements

Upper second-class Honours degree, or a lower degree with professional experience working in an education-related setting. Normally applicants will already be working in an educational setting as early-career teachers, teaching assistants or equivalent.

Our students are already working in educational settings as early-career teachers or teaching assistants prior to undertaking this programme.

Those who successfully complete the programme will be able to pursue careers in teaching in their home countries or internationally. This could be with young learners, high school students, college or university students, or adult learners.
