Whether you’re new to the field of District Nursing or an experienced District Nurse looking to enhance your skills and achieve a degree level qualification, our Community Specialist Practice District Nursing programme can help you achieve your goals.
Community Specialist Practice in District Nursing is a recordable qualification with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) which allows you to tailor your learning needs to your client population. For example, undertaking the Public Health module will allow you to consider a public health issue within your field of practice, such as smoking cessation and diabetes. The Consultation and Physical Examination Skills module will enable you to improve your patients’ experience when assessing and formulating a treatment plan for a range of issues from a long term condition to the care of a wound.
Entry Requirements
1st or 2nd class honours degree.
If you apply for this course you must be currently on the NMC Nursing register and you will need to provide evidence of study at level 5/6 within the last five years or complete an approved study skills course.

Student Destinations
Successful completion of the course will allow you to apply for the NMC Nursing register, recording this qualification as a V100 Community Practitioner Nurse Prescriber. This will enable you to work as a District Nurse and progress to work as a team leader in your field.
If you wish to take your learning further, you could use your qualification to study at a Masters level.
